When KidDomain Digs In
It was a serious archeological dig. The bones of real deer and bear, animals indigenous to this community, were uncovered and classified using sound scientific processes and tools. Bonafide scientific discovery or educational exhibit? Well, a little of both.
"Dig It" is an interactive exhibit that will give 4th and 5th grade level students the opportunity to explore some of the animals that are indigenous to their community through an archeological type dig, classification, and in depth study components.
- Components of the exhibit:
- Archeological dig of an animal skeleton(s)
- Classification of the animal skeleton(s)
- Study of the strength of bones versus the body mass of an animal
- Study of different types of locomotion of animals
- Geographic range of animal’s habitat
- Exploration of associated career paths
It traveled around the state of Michigan and was donated to Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum as a permanent exhibit. Dow Promise, The Dow Chemical Company funded the creation of this exhibit.
“A Taste for Learning” with KidDomain
Your mouth is an amazing machine. To a 3 or 4 year old this exhibit will turn a larger than life model of the mouth into an incredible educational opportunity. It lets them do hands-on exploration of its structural parts and learn what each part does. Activities are geared to promote interaction with the teeth, tongue and other main structures of the mouth, with special emphasis on oral hygiene. The exhibit allows multi-sensory exploration of the mouth.
- Components of the exhibit:
- Foam tongue to walk in on (colors denote taste areas)
- Mouth emits sound when child walks in (motion sensor)
- Hard teeth to feel
- Rough palate
It traveled within the Tri-Cities and was donated to Mid-Michigan Children’s Museum as a permanent exhibit. The Junior League of Saginaw Valley funded the creation of this exhibit.
